Pleasant Hill Instructional Garden Bears Fruit!
Since 2007, a bare dirt expanse next to an old gravel parking lot across the dead-ended street from Pleasant Hill Middle School has been transformed into the Pleasant Hill Instructional Garden or PHIG. It has been developed under the leadership of UC Master Gardener Monika Olsen (2000) and a diverse corps of volunteers, businesses and government agencies that believe in the need to educate people on the importance of sustainability, conservation and restoration of the balance of nature in an urban environment.
