Thank you for your interest, but registration for the Fall 2019 Growing Gardeners Program Vegetable Gardening course in Walnut Creek has reached its capacity.  Please check our Growing Gardeners web page for information on upcoming classes.

Learn the essentials of gardening with classroom instruction and hands-on activities.  Sign up for our new Vegetable Gardening course to be held at the Center for Community Arts (Annex B), 111 North Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek.  Classes will be held on four consecutive Saturdays, from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM, starting September 14, 2019. 

The course teaches the basic principles of gardening, and includes a lesson highlighting how to grow vegetables for home consumption.  Topics will include:

  • Soil
  • Plant Botany
  • Site Analysis
  • Composting
  • Tools
  • Alternative Growing Methods
  • Plant Selection and Care
  • Seed Starting and Transplanting
  • Irrigation
  • Pollinators
  • Integrated Pest Management

Participants completing the course, by attending all 12 hours of instruction, will become UC-Certified Growing Gardeners in Vegetable Gardening.  Please note that you must be at least 18 years old and a Contra Costa County resident to participate.

The cost for this course will be $60.00, non-refundable and payable by credit card only at the time of registration.
