Statewide Director Missy Gable Wins Prestigious Award
By Simone Adair
The UC Master Gardener Program of Contra Costa County congratulates Missy Gable, our Statewide Director of the UC Master Gardener Program, part of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, on receiving the 2022 Extension Master Gardener National Coordinator Award for Distinguished Early Career.
According to the National Extension Master Gardener website, the objective of the EMG Coordinator National Awards is to identify, reward and promote EMG Coordinators who demonstrate excellence. The criteria for the Distinguished Coordinator Award includes exhibiting an exemplary professional attitude (promotes collegiality, seeks ongoing professional development, demonstrates commitment to EMG program mission), demonstrating measurable impact for programming efforts, and demonstrating initiative in developing new and creative programming to meet community needs. EMG Coordinators should also collaborate with community and institutional partners and with colleagues on a state, regional and/or national level.
In recognizing Gable with the Distinguished Early Career award, the National EMG Coordinators Committee wrote that she exemplified the characteristics outlined in the criteria. “Throughout her nine years with the program, she has worked diligently to ensure the program makes an impact and follows its mission to support gardeners and sustainable gardening across the state.” You can read more about Gable’s award at the UC Master Gardener Program Statewide Blog.
