Cover Crops

Cover crops – sometimes called green manures – are plants that are used primarily to help improve a planting location, largely because of the many advantages they bring to the soil.  Cover crops are often used to help ‘repair’ soil that has been depleted or eroded.  Join Janet Miller as she explores the many benefits a gardener can get from using cover crop planting.

About Our Garden

Our Garden is a public demonstration garden of the UC Master Gardener Program of Contra Costa County, located in Walnut Creek at the corner of North Wiget Lane and Shadelands Drive, just north of Ygnacio Valley Road. From April through October, weekly speakers present a variety of information on edibles gardening and home gardening in general.

UC Master Gardeners of Contra Costa maintain the garden and interface with the general public. We encourage you to bring in your home and garden questions and talk with a UC Master Gardener at the Ask a Master Gardener Table (9 am to Noon)!
