Good Bug/Bad Bug, presented by UC Master Gardener John Fike

Our yards, gardens, orchards, and open spaces are teeming with small to microscopic creatures whose very presence is essential to the healthy ecosystem we call home.

Join UC Master Gardener John Fike as he presents a snapshot image of the myriad insect populations that exist under the leaves, in the soil, and in the air around us. Insect pests (bad bugs) that commonly occur in our area are shown along with the beneficial insects (good bugs) that prey on them. Nature has provided a safer and arguably better solution to insect control than using toxins in the environment.

A little biology and a lot of colorful pictures will introduce these insects, giving a new and fascinating perspective regarding the six-legged creatures that constitute over half of all the living organisms on earth.

There will be time for questions and answers after the presentation.  No charge.
